In-between Apartments

Luck sometimes shows its head and proves that returning to a secure site numerous times does pay off in the way of an accessible entrance. Case in point Feztaa had wanted to take a picture of a building and since it was close to this building I said that we should check out this apartment building that was built in 1910 just to see if there were any entrances now. We went around the building and as we neared the north corner I noticed something odd and upon further investigation it led inside the building. With this prospect both Feztaa and I entered the building and to our surprise, the hallway lights were on. I stated firmly not to go in the hallway until I inspected it as there might be an motion sensors. As I unpacked my attention left from Feztaa and he promptly gravitated to the hallway and before I could stop him he was in the middle of it. I shut my eyes waiting for the sounds of the alarm to go off but nothing happened so I proceeded into the hallway to check out the situation and see if there was a silent alarm. After walking up and down and finding no motion sensors my nerves relaxed until I walked back past the stairwell where I heard the faint sound of music. At first I thought, maybe someone is here but then rationalized that it was a resident was playing their music way too loud as per usual. As we walked through all of the apartments on the first floor the only thing that really changed was the linoleum. Then towards the front of the building we stumbled into a teenage wasteland with posters of the bands I hate so much still hanging on the wall. After debating with Feztaa how good or bad the bands on the posters we went up to the second floor but finding nothing of interest we proceeded up to the third floor. Although the everything but the linoleum stayed the same we noticed extensive water damage on the ceiling that indicated to me that a leaking roof was the reason why the apartment block was vacated. Before we left Feztaa pointed out something interesting that in all explorations I had never seen before, a pair of cowboy boots sitting on the roof of a second story house. This amused us for a couple of seconds and then we decided to go and investigate the basement. As the stairs creaked and groaned underneath our combined weight and as we came closer to the basement the sound of music continually grew louder. The music hit its crescendo when we we in the basement and although I was sure no one was here I was cautious too look into the room where the music was coming from. Carefully I poked my head around the corner of the door and looked if anyone was down here. Scanning the room I saw nothing but the cracks in the floor and a few remnants indicating that this was the laundry room and there was a doorway in the back of the room. I was intrigued by this so I investigated this while Feztaa went to the boiler room that was located further down the hallway. In the next room a radio was blaring the local CBC station and thus solved the mystery of where the music was coming from. As I took a picture of the radio I next focused my attention on the large wooden "boxes" used for storage and began to take a picture of it when Feztaa came in and said that I should check out the the boiler room. As I walked down the hallway and into the boiler's lair I was amazed at the site and released a low-pitched whistle. Before me lay a boiler in distress, her brick overcoat was in tatters and it appeared that she was leaking, these were her last days and she was destined to spend them in a decayed glory. I paid my respects to her, inspected some of her valves and then stated that it was time to leave and leave her alone to prepare her for the destiny she awaited (and also because we had seen everything.)
